61 NC Teachers Receive Support to Enhance STEM Education
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – The Burroughs Wellcome Fund is proud to announce the 61 recipients of the 2020 Promoting Innovation in Science and Mathematics award. Even though schools are currently closed until May 15, the Fund recognizes the dedication of these teachers towards their classrooms.
“We are grateful for the dedication of North Carolina’s teachers to their students,” said Fund President Dr. Louis Muglia. “We hope that this award provides inspiration and excitement in STEM education.”
The PRISM award provides up to $3,000 for one year to cover the cost of equipment, materials, and supplies. An additional $1,500 may be requested for professional development related to the implementation of new equipment or use of materials in the classroom. Awards are made to professional educators with a license to teach in a North Carolina K-12 public school.
“The PRISM grants awarded to NC public school teachers from across the state is indicative of the Fund’s commitment to STEM teaching and learning,” said Program Officer Alfred Mays. “Equipping teachers with needed resources supports greater student access and opportunity to quality STEM instruction.”
